Tommy Gorman & Graham Berry's Visit To The Org
Not Tooooo Long - Do Read! ;)
On 7/20/08 at 11:00 a.m. Tommy Gorman, an ex-Scientologist and critic, and Graham Berry, an attorney who has long fought against the injustices of Scientology, protested outside of the Org wearing "Scientology Kills" t-shirts. They were accompanied by a few DC protesters and a couple of out-of-town protest folks.
Tommy demanded the attention of the local Scientologists. He asked them for answers to questions while he video taped them. One Scientologist, who had been "in" for 30 years, did talk to him for a minute, but was quickly escorted back inside by another the Deputy Director of the DC Org. The 30 year Scientologist was informed that Tommy had been declared a "Suppressive Person" and the Scientologist was not allowed to talk to him. Shortly thereafter, the police were called. They showed up then left because there was no credible threat.
Tommy also spoke with a girl who had been "in" for just 6 weeks. She talked to Tommy while surrounded by 4 male Scientologists who were badgering her to continue her studies and not to listen to Tommy. After talking to Tommy and a few other protesters for about 10 minutes, she told the Scientologists it was "a scam" and she was leaving. The 4 men were insistant she stay but she ended up physically leaving the area in the end.
The Org ended up calling the police twice, and both times the police left because the protesters were doing nothing wrong.
After this trip to the Org, Tommy, Graham & the other protesters went back to the Mall, where the Scientologists had set up a book-selling tent. They protested there as well.
